ELEVEN TEN STUDIO ARTIST RUN SPACE IN BASEL

Cosimo Wunderlin (born 1992 in Bern, Switzerland) works across multiple media with a consistently conceptual approach. Rooted in painting, his practice expands through illustration, animation, sound, and graphic elements, allowing traditional and contemporary techniques to coexist within a single visual language. By merging old and new processes, Wunderlin continuously develops new forms and narrative strategies.

His works are characterized by dark, atmospheric color palettes enriched with references to film, comics, and self-designed typographic elements. Recurring motifs include futuristic figures, objects, and abandoned or transitional spaces that hint at speculative, often dystopian worlds. Many paintings resemble cinematic stills, creating a strong sense of narrative tension, while others lean into surrealism and remain deliberately open to interpretation.

Each work functions as a fragment of a larger, evolving narrative. Together, they form an overarching body of work that can be read sequentially or experienced independently, inviting viewers to piece together stories situated somewhere between memory, fiction, and imagined futures.

Wunderlin studied Visual Communication at the FHNW Academy of Art and Design (HGK Basel), earning his Bachelor’s degree in 2017, following earlier training at the Schule für Gestaltung Basel. Selected solo exhibitions include Pförtnerhaus #49 (Pförtnerhaus, Freiburg im Breisgau, 2023) and Mythen der Nachwelt – Teil 1 (lakeside gallery, Unterägeri, 2021). His work has been shown in numerous group exhibitions, including Affordable Art Fair (Hamburg, 2023), Art Friends (Basel Art Center, 2025), and Selected Crescendo (lakeside gallery zug, Zug, 2024). He received the Förderpreis Bildende Kunst in 2025 from the canton Solothurn.
