A PLACE TO BE

A PLACE TO BE is an exhibition that explores the complexity of belonging, displacement, and assimilation. Rather than treating resettlement as a single event, the exhibition frames it as a continuous, lifelong process shaped by personal memory, cultural pressure, and inherited mindsets.
Featuring seven sculptural works, Kyryl examines internal processes that often remain unseen, the ways one changes behaviour, conceals
one’s identity, or reshapes oneself to fit into a new reality.
Central to the exhibition is a rethinking of the idea of “homeland,” not as a geographic origin but as a fluid and evolving concept. What does it mean to be home? And where is it? The works raise the question of what happens when the sense of home is fractured by distance, conflict, war, or the desire for change. A PLACE TO BE is a reflection on layers of belonging that shape the way one lives when the anchor is gone. At its core, the exhibition questions: What is home?
