
Eddie Hara (b. 1957) is a renowned Indonesian artist living and working in Basel, Switzerland. He studied at the Indonesian Institute of Arts (ISI) in Yogyakarta and later at the Akademie voor Beeldende Kunst Enschede (AKI) in the Netherlands.
Eddie Hara’s distinctive visual language blends playful, raw imagery with sharp social commentary. His paintings frequently address urgent global issues such as politics, feminism, sexism, war, poverty, and racism—moving beyond aesthetics to provoke reflection and dialogue.
Hara has exhibited extensively in solo and group shows across the world, including in Cuba, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, the Netherlands, China, the USA, Singapore, and Switzerland. His works are part of prominent collections, including the Singapore Art Museum, Museum der Kulturen in Basel, and various private and corporate collections internationally.
