  • About the artwork

The black-and-white works are defined by natural light and reflections embedded within the architectural environment. Glass surfaces generate layered compositions in which bodies appear fragmented, partially concealed, and mediated by transparency, suggesting a space where visibility is never direct, but always filtered.

Within this field of shifting perception, the subjects frequently return the gaze. This creates a direct yet uneasy exchange, where looking is no longer one-directional but charged with awareness and tension.

  • About the Artist

Jakub Stachowiak (b. 1984, Poland) is a Basel-based photographer and creative designer. His work explores male intimacy, desire, and the dynamics of the gaze. Working with digital cameras and older sensor aesthetics, he builds a visual language that balances tension, playfulness, and staged spontaneity.

  • Exhibitions

All works were produced during the artist’s residency at ELEVEN TEN STUDIO in February of this year and were later presented as part of the solo exhibition OBSERVED: BETWEEN US, held in April 2026.
